Community Service for Immigrant Rights
Zen Space Makers’ Mario Milton and Sander Hicks volunteered their time to help with a community service project done with the immigrant rights communities of Jackson Heights Queens. We worked with NYU professor, Dr. Sophie Gonick and the activist attorney Nuala O’Doherty who runs an immigrant rights center in her basement.
“Rather than wallow in despair and rage, (post election) I took Sander Hicks to Jackson Heights to help out on a sidewalk mural at the 90th Street 7 stop alongside friends and comrades from the Jackson Heights Immigration Center and Voces Latinas. A good time (and some great Ecuadorian food) was had by all.”
